Summer 2024
Thanks to a successful April fundraiser with Barnes & Noble, GGAB is thrilled to announce the delivery of over 500 books to the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank!
This ongoing community project ensures that households with children served by EPFH receive new #GGABooks, benefiting 185,000 low-income kids across seven West Texas counties. With 1 in 4 children in El Paso facing hunger, GGAB and EPFH are dedicated to bringing joy and literacy to young readers in need.
On Friday, August 2, GGAB was excited to participate in EPFH’s first book distribution event. Emily White, GGAB’s Regional Program Coordinator, was there to greet clients and make sure that every child and household received a new, high quality book of their own.
Together, we're making a difference in the lives of these children, one book at a time. Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraiser and continues to champion this vital cause!

August 2024
A Heartwarming Day at El Pasoans Fighting Hunger
On a bright Friday morning in August, I had the privilege of attending the first-ever GGAB distribution day at El Pasoans Fighting Hunger. Held at the EPFH warehouse on a bustling block of El Paso, the day was filled with the hum of activity as families gathered to receive much-needed food supplies. But there was something extra special about this day—GGAB was there to distribute new books to children.
As I stood beside the tables piled high with colorful books, I could feel the excitement building. The children’s eyes widened with curiosity as they approached, unsure at first if the books were truly for them. “Yes, these are for you!” I would tell them with a smile. The joy that spread across their faces was priceless. Each child carefully selected a book, clutching it close as if it were the most precious treasure. Some children immediately flipped through the pages while others admired the packaged book with wide eyes and excitement. It wasn’t just the kids who were thrilled. Parents and guardians expressed their gratitude, and many of them were surprised and touched by the gesture.
Seeing the connection these families made with the books reinforced why we do what we do at GGAB. The distribution event wasn’t just about providing essential resources; it was about bringing joy, inspiring imagination, and supporting literacy. The smiles and words of thanks from both children and adults made it a day I won’t soon forget.
United, we can bridge the divide in book access.
Your investment directly supports our mission to provide quality books to children who need them the most and empower children with the tools for success.
